Summer vacations are abound as the pioneering spirit of America breaks the daily grind to seek the road and something more picturesque. In attempt to capture a modern interpretation of the journey west Kasum Contemporary will soon open Contemporary West II; exhibiting July 2nd through July 31st. The July exhibit will feature the works of Stephen St. Claire, Bonnie Teitelbaum and new gallery artist John Self. Hailing from Asheville, NC artist Stephen St. Claire will deliver glowing paintings of the Blue Ridge, the Great Smokies and the color that the eastern forests are known to flaunt. Artist Bonnie Teitelbaum, from Santa Fe, NM, will debut a new large format quintet in her Ode to the Road and Sculptor John Self, from Kerrville, TX, will exhibit a selection masks and travel trailers created from repurposed “Garage Sale Artifacts.” The gallery will host an opening reception during LIVE on the Plaza, Friday, July 8th from 7:00-10:00 PM. During the reception the gallery will also feature the debut of Lotus Berthelotii; the third of four performances in Valerie Sharp’s performance art series Innocence Lost starting at 8:00 PM. Sharp’s performance Lotus Berthelotii will examine the process of analyzing childhood experience and how its undercurrent continues to have force and power. The exhibit and associated events are free and open to the public.
